10/21/2024: Castle Fractal v0.9b Coming Next Month!


It's been a busy two months...

Once classes started, Castle Fractal work slowed down significantly, as did devlog updates. But those updates also stopped because... well, posting on my itch.io devlog and especially LinkedIn takes a lot of inertia from me for some reason (maybe it's because I know I can be quite wordy so it feels like more work than it actually is😅)

But the most exciting reason that the development log updates stopped is because THE DEVELOPMENT IS DONE! (Or at least, the Early Access portion).

These past two months I've been focused on the distribution side of things, which admittedly I didn't have as much to say about as I thought I would. But this brings me to two VERY exciting announcements:

1) In September 2024, I founded Hatfelt LLC! This is a game studio focused on creating immersive digital worlds for the player to explore and express themselves in. We aim to take players on journeys and experiences that inspire their imagination, and change the they interact with the real world, in ways both big and small. This is a studio I plan to utilize for development and distribution for the long-term, so it's exciting to be building it up now.

2) Castle Fractal is undergoing the Steam Release approval process, and is currently set to launch in Steam Early Access on November 15, 2024! This version of the game (also known as "v0.9b") utilizes placeholder visual assets, but is feature-complete, including Weapon Types and Abilities, potions, procedural room generation, bosses, upgrades, custom controls, and high scores.

I want to thank everyone who's supported me over the past three years in making this game a reality. My family, friends, teachers, and the many game designers and industry professionals I've met who've given me advice or insight.

And thank YOU for reading! Castle Fractal v0.9b may be complete, but this is just the start of my game design adventure.
